Description
We are looking for a hands-on and self-starting Reinsurance Accounting Manager to join our team. This individual would oversee a small team of 1 to 2 individuals and this role requires a leader who enjoys challenges and not typical accounting responsibilities.
Job Summary
Responsible for all activities related to administering the company's reinsurance program, including but not limited to:
- Responsible for record-keeping, administration, accounting, and financial reporting and analysis under GAAP for all reinsurance business.
- Drafts Reinsurance Agreements and Amendments and stays current on compliance issues. Creates and maintains policy and reinsurance contract databases.
- Reviews reinsurance contract terms and conditions for alignment with overall reinsurance strategy; designs custom reinsurance reporting and administration documents
- Leads effort to prepare and review profit share commissions statements, as well as settlement
- Monitors payments on dealer advances, including preparation of monthly statements
- Manages the development and implementation of new systems and processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Develops and administers department budget. Assists with external audits. Profit plan preparation and oversight.
- Required to communicate effectively with customers using common telecommunications equipment and computer equipment.
- Regular attendance required. Must learn, follow, and teach established procedures and maintain a thorough knowledge of regulations affecting reinsurance activity.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and management skills; good organization; flexibility; accuracy; the ability to prioritize, and confidentiality are essential. Workloads can be demanding.

- Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience
- 6 years of relevant and progressive experience in Accounting and/or Finance that includes at least three years in Reinsurance Reporting.

- Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company's business to proactively respond to changing business environment
- Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
